The winds of Hurricane Beryl may have shaken the foundations of our beloved Carriacou Museum, but they did not erase its spirit. Today, we’re excited to share a powerful update on the journey to restore this vital cultural space — a journey rooted in memory, resilience, and vision.
Majella Mark, with support from museum personnel, is spearheading the rebuilding effort. Known for documenting Caribbean life and leading community-based cultural initiatives, Majella urgently and carefully pushes momentum for the museum’s restoration. Her leadership ensures that this effort goes far beyond construction—it’s about preserving the soul of Carriacou through story, artifact, and community engagement.
✏️ Blueprints in Hand: The Future Takes Shape
We’re thrilled to announce that Erik Johnson, principal architect at Atlantic Partnership Architects in Grenada, has completed the architectural blueprints for the new museum. His design honors the essence of the original museum while integrating modern elements that ensure durability, accessibility, and hurricane resilience.
In the coming days, we’ll share a 3D rendering of the new Carriacou Museum—a visual reminder that history, when held close and cared for, can be reborn.

💪 What Comes Next
The project is now in its active fundraising phase to cover:
Structural reconstruction of the museum building
Artifact recovery and preservation
Volunteer training for local community members
Archiving and digitizing Carriacou’s cultural materials
Operations of the museum
This museum is not just a building. It is a beacon for Carriacou’s stories, a classroom for future generations, and a memory home.
